When four long-time friends pooled resources to purchase a 160-acre farm in south central Iowa, little did they realize the adventures that would ensue. The wooded ravines were mostly grazed over by cattle and the arable portions lay fallow. But the farm pond held fish and the property was situated in the midst of one of the most desirable whitetail hunting areas in the country.

After forming the 3D-Badger corporation, the Wisconsin cheese heads began to improvise and alter, investing much perspiration, time and energy. There now exists a basic hunting cabin, complete with electricity, running cold water and a wood burning stove. A recently installed windmill aerates the pond and mowed trails help access the far reaches of the property. Even though their labor has been plagued with maladies from chigger bites to frost bite, a deep sense of satisfaction soothes the discomfort.

The stories in this book are sprinkled with unequal dosages of fiction and fact. Each one tells of a special hunt or trip. When combined with one another, they contribute to the total experience we both seek and share. These accounts chronicle the evolution of the farm into a destination all four of us hold dear. We hope that the reader experiences some of the camaraderie, joy and humor that we have over the years.
