The Lindfield and Penny book is a very nice to numerical analysis using the very popular software MATLAB. One of the great aspects of the book is that in addition to the standard and necessary topics in an introductory numerical analysis textbook this book presents and explains some more "advanced" topics that are not often seen in a text of this type. Topics such as optimization using genetic algorithms and modeling the frequency components of a signal using the FFT are covered with very accessible s.

This manual are the solutions and notes I made as I worked through the chapters of this book. In addition, most of the problems required writing MATLAB code (which is available via a web site). This manual provides examples on how to call these scripts, the expected outputs, and resulting discussion for each problem.

Some note on this manual: I didn't work the problems in the first chapter (the chapter on MATLAB programming which was not numerical in nature). Second, I only had access to a early edition of the Lindfield and Penny book so there might be problems in later editions of the book that are not worked in this manual. I would assume that later editions of the Lindfield and Penny book would include the problems I've worked. In that case these notes would be helpful to owners of those editions. For these reasons I've tried to keep the price of the book low and manageable to most budgets.
